Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center

“Discover Your Watershed”

Partnering with an exhibit design firm, Silver Oaks created a computer-based touchscreen interactive for the Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center, located in Buford, Georgia. “Discover Your Watershed” allows visitors to easily see the implication of the Eastern Continental Divide on which way their watershed flows – whether ultimately to the Atlantic Ocean or the Gulf of Mexico. Designed to be accessible for users of all ages, a specific watershed can be located by simply selecting it on the map, or by selecting a city or school from a drop-down list. A narrative then appears describing the size and unique characteristics of that watershed, as well as a detailed map showing the cities, schools and rivers it contains.

Users can also learn about the impact of urbanization in highly populated watersheds and the effects pollution has on water.
