Lincoln Park Zoo

“Farm in the Zoo” Interactives

Silver Oaks completely redesigned the Farm-in-the-Zoo at Chicago’s Lincoln Park Zoo. From designing the logo and signage to producing 17 interpretives for the newly renovated Main Barn, Silver Oaks created, wrote, programmed and installed it all. We partnered with architects, fabricators and zoo experts to transform the 3-acre site into an entertaining, educational environment where over 3 million people a year come to learn about the Midwest’s farming industry.

Creating a barn full of captivating exhibits, our team developed innovative displays and coordinated with our educators to make the designs come to life. The resulting exhibits engage all senses and learning styles. Interactive media displays explain in a fun, simplified way various aspects of agriculture. Visitors can “drive” a tractor over the fields of a 42" touchscreen monitor, discovering how farmers use precision farming techniques to steward their natural resources. Touchscreen monitors are also housed in the seed bins of a real John Deere planter, allowing children to sort corn, soybean and sunflower seeds by shape and color.
