Palm Beach County History Museum

Interactive Project

Like all communities, Palm Beach County, Florida, has experienced significant changes over time. Silver Oaks designed and produced for the Palm Beach County History Museum a computer-based touchscreen interpretive that illustrates these changes and their effects on the surrounding landscape and population.

Visitors can look at maps from 1920, 1960 and 2000, toggling on/off indications for population, canals/waterways and roads – seeing the county’s progressive development. Short animated videos allow visitors to step back even further in time to see how the Florida land formation has evolved over the past thousands and millions of years. Visitors can then test their Palm Beach County knowledge with a short quiz. Problems associated with rapid growth and their respective solutions are also detailed, highlighting topics such as extreme weather conditions, distressed environment and water supply.
